What Is 30 Plays in 60 Minutes?
Originally created by The Neo-Futurists, Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind is exactly what it promises:
30 short plays performed in 60 minutes.
But here’s the twist — the audience decides the order.
When you arrive, you’ll receive a numbered menu listing all 30 plays. At showtime, audience members shout out numbers. The cast scrambles to perform whichever play corresponds to that number. Comedy. Drama. Movement. Chaos. Truth. Surprise.
Each piece is short — sometimes 30 seconds, sometimes two minutes — but every one is immediate, honest, and alive.
There’s a timer on stage.
There are no intermissions.
There is no hiding.
If the ensemble doesn’t complete all 30 plays in 60 minutes, the show “fails.”
And that’s part of the fun.
Audience Engagement & Energy
This is not a sit-back-and-watch kind of theatre experience.
You get a menu.
You choose the order.
You decide if you want to participate or simply enjoy the ride.
The audience becomes part of the rhythm of the night — calling numbers, reacting in real time, fueling the momentum. Every performance is different because every audience is different.
Expect:
Fast-paced storytelling
Raw, vulnerable moments
Bold humor
Surprising emotional turns
A cast that never stops moving
This production lives in the intimacy of the Backstage Theater — up close, immersive, and electric.
