Visit our local attractions in Dickinson. Local heritage, arts, and recreation are available while your are here. From the land of prehistoric dinosaurs to the early settlers, our history of settlement is on display and waiting to be explored.

Theodore Roosevelt, our 26th President, ranched in the ND Badlands, his life is chronicled at the Theodore Roosevelt Center at Dickinson State University.

Learn about the fine art of the "Psyanky" Easter Eggs and how the long traditions are being still being taught today at the Ukrainian Cultural Institute.

Dakota Dinosaur Museum
The 13,400 sq. ft. museum houses thousands of rock, mineral and fossil specimens including a complete real Triceratops skeleton. The museum features an outstanding collection of mineral from around the world. In the museum model laboratory, visitors can view a complete Triceratops skull discovered just west of Dickinson. Eleven full scale dinosaurs along with a florescent display of unique minerals will be the highlight of any child's vacation. The gift shop offers lots of variety of items, including minerals, fossils specimans, toy dinosaurs, educational books, jewelry and t-shirts.

Dickinson Museum Center
Ethnic origins are preserved at the Dickinson Museum Center. The Joachim Regional Museum features art, history exhibits, and events. Research is also available. Summer tours of eleven historical buildings are available at the Prairie Outpost Park. Housed inside the Prairie Machinery Building, the implements of farming are on display along with the stories of their contribution to the area.

Dickinson State University Art Gallery
Located in Klinefelter Hall, the gallery provides an annual exhibition schedule featuring a variety of art mediums created by visiting artists, local artists, and the university's facilty and students. The gallery also provides educational workshops for children.

Theodore Roosevelt Center
Located in Dickinson State University's Stoxen Library, the center houses a comprehensive digital presidential library of personal letters, diary entries, notes, cartoons, scrapbooks, newspaper columns, photographs, and magazine articles by and about Theodore Roosevelt. Visitors will be able to view films in which Theodore Roosevelt makes an appearance and also be able to listen to audio recordings that feature his famous falsetto voice.
In 1883, Theodore Roosevelt invested in the Maltese Cross Ranch, south of the village of Medora, ND. The following year, he returned to the Badlands and established a second ranch, the Elkhorn, located 35 miles north of Medora.

Ukrainian Cultural InstituteThe Ukrainian Cultural Institute features folk art cultural exhibits, religous displays, and houses a research library. The beautiful hand crafted "Psyanky" Easter Eggs are showcased, each one individually created with themes and stories. Embroidered cloths adorn the walls next to the heritage paintings of the early settlers. Varenyky or pyrohy, better known as "Cheese Buttons", are distributed in stores across the upper Midwest and can also be purchased in house. Each July, the Ukrainian Festival is held, showcasing the history and the "Stepovi Dity" Ukrainian dancers in their colorful costumes.
