Little Missouri National Grasslands
The badlands and grasslands offer breathe taking scenery with rugged adventure. Over 1 million acres of public land provide prairie flora and wildlife viewing. Hike the land, enjoy the solitude and take in the rolling prairies, majestic buttes, cliffs and winding roads bringing you to the next spectacular view. Campgrounds are available, check the web site for particular amenitites.

Little Missouri State Park No Biking
Some of the most rugged Badlands terrian in the state. Most of the park is accessable only by horseback or hiking. More than 30 miles of marked trails crisscross the 5,749 acre park with mapping information available.

Maah Daah Hey Trail
A 96-mile non motorized trail open for hiking, biking and horseback riding. The trail begins at Sully Creek State Recreation Area, approximately five miles south of historic Medora, and meanders north through the South and North units of Theodore Roosevelt National Park and the Little Missouri National Grassland. Biking within the Theodore Roosevelt National Park is prohibited. Bikers must use alternative routes around park boundaries.

Schnell Recreation Area
2,000 acres of native prairie and wooded draws set aside for recreation,wildlife habitat and environmental education. Camping, hiking, wildlife viewing, horseback trails, cross-country skiing, mountain biking.

Sully Creek State Recreation Area
Located in the Badlands, Sully Creek is just minutes from historic Medora. Camping available. Hikers have access to the Maah Daah Hey Trail in the Little Missouri National Grasslands.

North Unit ~ Theodore Roosevelt National Park - Hiking/Biking Trails Map The north unit of the TR Park features over 40 miles of interconnecting trails which present hikers with spectacular badlands scenery. Some of the more common routes are described in this map. Trails traverse a mixture of river bottom and grassy buttes with some trails requiring steep climbs or descents. Water sources are unreliable; carry all that you anticipate needing. Trails are marked with wooden posts with signs at intersections.

South Unit ~Theodore Roosevelt National Park - Hiking/Biking Trails Map The south unit of the TR park features over 60 miles of interconnecting trails which present hikers with spectacular badlands scenery. Some of the more common routes are described in this map. Trails traverse a mixture of grasslands and badlands topography with some trails requiring steep climbs or descents. Water sources are unreliable; carry all that you anticipate needing. Trails are marked with carsonite posts with signs at intersections.
